Lars Krogvold, M.D., is a Consultant in paediatric diabetology, nephrology and endocrinology at the Children department, Oslo University Hospital, Norway. He is currently finishing a PhD-degree working in the Diabetes Virus detection study (DiViD) analysing pancreatic biopsies from newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic adult patients. DiViD was initiated by the leader of Oslo Diabetes Research Centre, Professor Knut Dahl-Jørgensen, to increase our knowledge of the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes. The analyses in DiViD are done in close corporation with members of the PEVNET Consortium. PEVNET (Persistent virus infection in diabetes network) is an innovative research program of biobanks and expertise supported by the European Union exploring the importance of viruses in the development of type 1 diabetes.
